Haverfordwest County 2 – Cardiff Met 2

Haverfordwest County surrendered a two goal lead to pick up their first point of the season against Cardiff Met at the Ogi Bridge Meadow on Friday evening.

This literally was a game of two halves, goals from Ben Ahmun and Corey Shephard put the Bluebirds 2-0 up at half time as The Bluebirds were good value for their lead, however, within two minutes of the second period The Archers hit back with goals from Jasper Payne and Ruan Reynolds which come the final whistle earned them a share of the spoils.

Frustrations boiled over in stoppage time when Bluebirds’ skipper Dylan Rees was shown a red card following an altercation with Archers’ skipper Chris Craven who was shown a yellow and after the final whistle Haverfordwest County manager Tony Pennock was issued a red card.

The hosts opened the scoring in the12th minute with a well worked goal, which Ahmun finished with a fine far post volley.

Shephard doubled the lead when some excellent build-up play down the right which led to the central midfielder who made no mistake with a low finish from the edge of the area, minutes later the same man nearly added a third as he skied his effort over the bar from a similar distance.

After the interval the visitors hit back with two quickfire goals, the first was a route one ball which looked as though defender Kyle McCarthy was fouled by Payne before the latter tucked his effort in the net. Just a minute later the Bluebirds were punished as Reynolds finished clinically  from a cut back inside the box.

The hosts created further chances but none of them found the back of the net as both sides settled for a draw.
